Building the Front Entry: Part 1

1) Stand the posts up. No, they are not simply balancing. There is a long 5/8" rebar pin that is drilled up the center of the posts to keep them in position ... this is what is holding them up right now. Kinda look like aztec totem poles or something!

2) Plane, sand, drill the beams. Cut to length and finish ends.

3) Install first beam. It is lifted into place, and holes are drilled through posts (beam is pre-drilled).

4) Other beams are installed, and everything is bolted together.

5) Everything is checked for square and level etc, and cross-bracing is added to hold it in position.

Next step is to add the joists and rafters.
